Starting on Your Island

Spawn on a small floating island with limited resources. Open the quest book immediately — FTB Quests rewards items painful to craft from scratch.

Complete opening quests for tools, sieving materials, and food before leaving the island. Do not rush into the void unprepared.

Create Sifting Basics

Create Sifting is the backbone of early FTB Skies. Sieve gravel, sand, and dust for ores, gems, and byproducts.

Craft an Andesite Mesh first. Power with a Create water wheel. Automate with belts, funnels, and chests when quests require it.

Exploring with the Eye of Legend

The Eye of Legend scans for floating villages and loot structures. Craft it when quests introduce it.

Bring blocks and food — sky villages offer bartering, quest items, and gear that accelerates progression. Mark coordinates for return trips.

Refined Storage Setup

Refined Storage is the go-to in FTB Skies. Quests walk you through Controller, Disk Drive, and storage disks.

Start with 1k disks. Importers on sifter outputs auto-sort. Wireless Grid access saves constant running between machines.

Power and Mid-Game Tech

Create water wheels handle early power. Branch into Mekanism for Heat Generators, Enrichment Chambers, and ore doubling.

Follow quest chapters — FTB Skies gates content to prevent spreading thin. Botania and Elemental Craft are strong magic paths after sifting is stable.

Early food comes from quests and basic farming on expanded platforms. Automate crop production before scaling machines.
